Society for the Performing Arts is dedicated to enriching the lives of children throughout the greater Houston area and offers the following programs:

Student Matinees of Pocahontas, Drumline LIVE, The Peking Acrobats, and The Intergalactic Nemesis Live-Action Graphic Novel will thrill students. School planners and teachers will be equally thrilled with these affordable performances that also include study guides.

The 13th Annual Wells Fargo Student Visual Art Contest showcases the talents of Houston-area K-12 students and gives them a chance to win a bevy of prizes. This year, the contest is held in conjunction SPA’s presentation of Compagnie La Baraka.  The contest theme is Exploring the Fabric of our World:  What are we made of?

Dance-o-logy  For the first time, Society for the Performing Arts is offering teachers on-site performance opportunities by Ad Deum Dance Company for their students. This program is designed to help those of your students who are pursuing dance studies, those who are informed by dance, and/or those open to discovering what dance can offer them.

Words on the Move! For the second time since its inception, SPA is providing teachers with an opportunity to teach their students to create their own short stories and translate them into movement through a program titled “Words on the Move!”  SPA brings writers and choreographers into your schools for various sessions over a 4 to 6-week period, during times that are most beneficial for your students.
