Traditionally a part of ceremonies such as births, funerals and the enthronement of Kings, The Royal Drummers and Dancers of Burundi have been moving audiences for centuries. In Burundi, drums are sacred and represent the powers of fertility and regeneration. They’ve been sharing their talent with the rest of the world now for nearly 50 years, and they’ve grabbed the attention of numerous artists including Joni Mitchell, Adam and the Ants, and Bow Wow Wow, with each inviting the ensemble to record on their own albums. But a live performance is the real treat. Come experience it.
