Houston’s leading performing arts presenter, Society for the Performing Arts, is pleased to announce the 2014 Gala, Forever Paris, chaired by Elizabeth and Tim Vail with Rosemary Schatzman and Vanessa Sendukas serving as honorary chairs, will be held Saturday, March 29, at 7 p.m. in the Wortham Center’s Grand Foyer.
Themed Forever Paris, the Grand Foyer will be transformed into a post-World War I carefree Paris, reflective of the 1920s through the 1930s, when American musicians, authors, artists and socialites mingled in the French capital city and the popularity of jazz exploded. This year’s gala will honor longtime SPA board member Karl Kilian for his many years of dedicated service to the organization.
The evening will begin with cocktails, followed by a feast for the senses with tantalizing fare created by Jackson and Company. Rebekah Johnson of Bergner & Johnson will once again create a stunning atmosphere where guests will feel like they have truly been swept away to Paris. Following dinner, guests will dance the night away when The Hot Sardines, a “high-energy traditional jazz band with a Parisian accent,” takes the stage.
This year’s auction will include many sought after items such as luxury travel from sea to shining sea, exclusive tours in Paris, shimmering jewels and an assortment of over 60 bottles of fine wine, which will certainly compliment your wine collection!
The proceeds from the gala will provide the necessary funds needed for SPA’s Education and Community Engagement Program that takes the performing arts into the community, and offers unique learning experiences and enrichment of more than 120,000 underserved children and adolescents in the greater Houston area annually.
