Society for the Performing Arts is dedicated to supporting creativity and high-quality instruction in the classroom. SPA’s educator programs are beneficial to both arts and core content teachers.

SPA Teacher Workshops

Teacher Workshops provide professional learning opportunities for K-12 educators, providing teaching tools to academic and arts teachers. Teacher workshops are suited to help both teachers trying to begin integrating an artistic framework into lesson plans as well as teachers refining their arts curriculum.

2018 – 2019 Dance Master Classes:

Society for the Performing Arts, in partnership with the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, presents the 2018-2018 SPA at the J Dance Master Class Series. This series of innovative master classes brings the expertise of world-renowned dancers, choreographers, and teaching artists from all over the globe directly to Houston.

Classes are open to the public for intermediate dancers and up. All classes cost $20 per participant. Email us for a discount code to sign up for all three and save!

Public Choreographer Discussion Series

Starting in the 2018-2019 season, the Public Choreographer Discussion series brings choreographers from all over the world into intimate settings around Houston to share their artistic practice and inspiration. The series highlights the work of choreographers and artistic directors of groups who will perform as mainstage feature SPA productions.

SPA Teachers Club

Society for the Performing Arts believes that attending live, main stage performances is essential for teachers. It presents an opportunity to develop knowledge of repertoire and to transfer that experience into the classroom. Through the SPA Teachers Club, full- time K-12 teachers, principals, and school staff can obtain special discounts of up to 50% to select evening performances with a valid school ID.
